Greetings all, first let me introduce myself, I'm Indonesian Chineese who has moved here and stay here under mm2h visa. I and family have stayed here for almost two years but still have no idea what business to setup here.
Just recently I have an idea in printing services, I personally like all printing related things. But unfortunately I have no experience in this field, my last business was computer peripherals trading which is in Jakarta. I just thought to provide custom printing especially photos on vertical blinds (windows covering) either one side or both sides. So if we flip to open we can look through the window (same as normal blinds), but if we flip to close it become a big picture covering the window.
I don't know whether there are demands for this, at least I love to have it for my next house. Does anybody know whether this kind of product available here? If not I like to setup a company that offering this, but to be able doing this I need a partner who familiar with production of vertical blinds, or know how to assemble vertical blinds and know where to source the parts. As for the printing we can explore together.
Any ideas or suggestions are very welcome, either in english or BM, please email to ferdi892002@yahoo.com
Thank you.
Ferdi

i wasn't aware if any of those are available yet..
since you are on MM2H, i assume money & current living cost is not an issue, hence u are more freely to explore alternative, non-core business like this (probably under internal design/deco).
some of the offices that i visited during my practical year (student), they have murals on the wall, or at least posters of ridiculous "art" that i would have given a serious thought of buying... but still there are plenty of those... and the price is beyond believe.
====
if you widen your scope, i would suggest
- the vertical blind posters as u mentioned
- wall murals - hence need to collaborate with artist. no need to use professional/well known artist, just contact the street artist at CM (Central Market, the craft/art building in KL)
- posters of normal sizes & shapes
- posters of gigantic proportion for halls & large areas
- cubicle partitions esp of art/craft nature - bamboo, certain woods etc.
if you would like to get ideas what prestigious offices/homes would spend just for the sake of spending... visit one shop in KLCC where there are a few terracota statues (the ancient chinese stuff) displayed at their front side.

there is a millionaire in indonesia, Syekh Puji who specialise in calligraphy & khat (arabic-style deco crafted/chiselled on wood) but his history in the business span decades..

if you spend some time visiting Iskandar Malaysia (the new economic corridor in johor, near singapore.. also where the legoland is..), there are plenty of new high class offices being built.
the prices of the building and the rent is way above the normal standard in malaysia hence i assume they are the sort of people who would likely to spend on luxuries like this.
just my ideas..
